The Best Music Releases of March 2024

Hi friends!

a few months into the year and we already have some great releases to talk about! Head on over to my march releases playlist so you can listen along whilst you read!

‘Eternal sunshine’ – Ariana Grande

By far my favourite release of this month (so far) is eternal sunshine by ariana grande. This album, in my opinion, is her most cohesive work so far. there are elements of her signature trap/hip-pop but also has a fresh sound for her. From the vocal production, to the production & engineering by max martin & Ilya, this album is pop perfection. Grande has proven herself yet again with her ability to write, produce, and of course sing. Here are two of my favourite tracks on the album!

‘i wish i hated you’

This song is a vocal masterpiece. The harmonies are so precise, and the layering is extremely tight. She is able to paint a cinematic image in your head through these techniques, and of course through the lyrics. the end of a relationship is never easy, especially when no one has done anything wrong and there is no hatred. I feel as though grande portrays this extremely well through the emotion in her vocals here. This song is deeply emotional and you really get transported to a place where you can feel those emotions alongside grande. the light and airy track behind all of the vocal layering helps to highlight her impeccable vocal skills and harmonies. I love that there is such a juxtaposition between the lyrics and sound of the track. the only problem i have with this track is that it is too short!

‘Supernatural’

I absolutely love the feeling of this track! This song truly captures the feeling of falling in love. The lyricism is beautiful; calling her love supernatural is so stunning and unique to me. I really enjoy the melodies on this track, i feel like they float along the beat and it just makes for such a gorgeous sound. This very 90’s-esque track is reminiscent of Grande’s dangerous woman album in my opinion. ‘Supernatural’ is an almost perfect love song.

‘sweet Boy Pt.2’ – Malcolm Todd

Malcolm Todd continues to put out consistently good music. He has cultivated his own sound which is instantly recognizable on Sweet boy pt.2. I really enjoyed both parts of this Ep! I think the writing is really strong, and the production is so smooth. The switch between being overly arrogant and yearning for what you want is a really cool LYRICAL CONCEPT on these two EP’s. i AM LOOKING FORWARD TO FOLLOWING mALCOLM tODD and watching him grow as an artist! Here is my favourite track on sweet boy pt.2.

‘Sore throat’

I really love the melodies todd used in this song. It feels quite upbeat and is easy to bop your head along to; then you read the lyrics. This is a song about letting someone go to have your own time and space after holding on for so long. “This is not for saving” is a really poignant lyric that is repeated throughout the song. I really love the intricacy of this song, from the lead guitar down to the pads and drums. I also really enjoy the melodies todd comes up with. In my opinion, they are super unique which allows todd to have this really recognizable sound.

‘fawning’ – Alexis

ALEXIS is a Producer, DJ, & vOCALIST from London and has really shown her talent for writing & production in her latest project Fawning. This EP is a blend of electronic/experimental, as well as ambient elements. this ep does a wonderful job at showcasing her intricate melody work and vocal production skills. Fawning is also really well curated, with 4 tracks that work together beautifully. She recently had her debut live show, and it was incredible to see these tracks come to life in a live music setting. i love every track on this ep and believe it should be listened to as a complete work!

Let me know your thoughts on these releases! I would also love to hear some of your favourite releases of march & april!
